§ 2-234. Plan commission.

  • (a)

    Creation. Pursuant to IC 36-7-4-207, Section 207(b) of the Indiana State Statutes, there is hereby created a new plan commission for the City of Logansport. The commission shall have nine members. The current 11 member commission is hereby abolished.

    (b)

    Membership. The plan commission shall at all times consist of seven incorporated members and two exterritorial jurisdiction.

    (c)

    Appointments. The municipal legislative body shall appoint three members, who must be elected or appointed municipal officials or employees in the municipal government. The municipal executive shall appoint four citizen members, of whom no more than two may be of the same political party. Section 214(a) states that the county executive shall appoint two citizen members, such members must have residents or own real property within the unincorporated area. These members may not be of the same political party and one member must actually live within the unincorporated area.

    (d)

    Terms. The three members appointed by the municipal legislative body shall serve a term of one year. The four citizen members appointed by the municipal executive and the two citizen members appointed by the county executive shall serve a term of four years.

    (e)

    Initial terms. The initial appointments to the plan commission shall be staggered.

    (f)

    Officers. The members of the plan commission shall elect a chairman, and a secretary from among the membership.
