§ 54-2. Out-of-state identification number inspection fee; motor vehicle inspection account.

  • (a)

    The city police department shall charge a $3.00 fee for making out-of-state inspections of the identification numbers which must be inspected prior to registration in the state. A fee of $5.00 shall be charged for such inspection if the inspection is made at a site other than the police station.

    (b)

    There is established in the office of the clerk-treasurer a motor vehicle inspection account, which shall be under the control of the chief of police and is subject to the following conditions:

    (1)

    All monies received for motor vehicle inspections shall be deposited therein.

    (2)

    The account shall be designated for the purpose of providing equipment and training for the city police department.

    (3)

    All disbursements from such account shall be made on the order of the chief of police and payable by the clerk-treasurer upon presentation of the proper claims as approved by the police department and the board of public works and safety.

    (c)

    The motor vehicle inspection account shall be a nonreverting account as provided by law, subject to all laws regarding the maintenance and handling of nonreverting accounts.
